We started our journey in Mumbai —
a city of 15 million people, madness, mountains, jungle… and ocean.
Yes, it’s chaotic. But I fell in love.
There’s something wild and alive in this city. I’d live here — if the rent wasn’t so high.
One of the places that truly amazed me is what you see in the photo —
a stunning building that looks more European than Indian.
Nearby are the famous Gateway of India — and from there, we set off to Elephanta Island.
💡 Pro tip:
Don’t book an expensive tour. Just take a rickshaw, come to the Gateway around 11 a.m.,
buy your ferry ticket — and enjoy.
The queue’s short, the price is ten times less, and the ride takes about an hour.
You can buy food for the seagulls, or just enjoy the breeze and the Arabian Sea.
No rush. Just water and sky.

Ми почали подорож у Мумбаї —
місті з 15 мільйонами людей, горами, джунглями й океаном.
Скажений, гучний, але такий живий.
Я би там жила. Якби не така дорога оренда 😄
Мене дуже вразила ця будівля на фото — схожа на європейський замок.
Поруч — Ворота Індії, і саме звідти ми попливли на острів Елефанта.
💡 Порада:
Не замовляйте дорогі тури. Просто приїдьте рикшею до Воріт Індії близько 11-ї,
купіть квиток на паром — і вперед.
Черги маленькі, ціна вдесятеро нижча, а дорога займає близько години.
Можна купити корм для чайок або просто дивитися на океан.
Без поспіху. Лише вода і небо.

Some say Elephanta Island was carved by ancient monks.
But others — whisper something stranger.
That once, long before humans, something not human landed here.
They drilled deep into the mountain, searching for energy or answers —
and in the process, shaped the caves we now call sacred.
The great elephant statue they left behind?
Not a symbol — a mistake.
A reminder that even advanced civilizations misplace things.
No one knows who built these caves.
But when you stand inside, under that stone ceiling —
something in your skin says:
“This wasn’t meant to be found.”

Кажуть, острів Елефанта вирізали монахи.
Але є й інша версія — дивніша.
Що колись, задовго до людей, тут приземлилось щось не зовсім людське.
Вони свердлили гору в пошуках енергії чи відповідей —
і так з’явилися печери, які ми сьогодні вважаємо святими.
А кам’яний слон, що лишився?
Не символ. Просто — забули.
Навіть інопланетяни щось втрачають.
Хто створив ці печери — досі таємниця.
Але коли стоїш всередині, під склепінням із каменю —
щось під шкірою шепоче:
“Це не мало бути знайдене.”

Hidden in a separate cave on Elephanta Island stands a massive lingam —
the sacred symbol of Shiva.
It’s tall. Ancient. Almost my height.
I couldn't help but laugh — so much reverence for a stone… well, you know what.
They say it’s about power, not pleasure.
But I still wonder — how does it work without the rest of the man? 😄

Священний символ. Великий.
У окремій печері на острові Елефанта захований величезний лінгам —
священний символ Шиви.
Високий. Старовинний. Майже мого зросту.
Я не втрималась і засміялась — стільки поваги до кам’яного… ну, ви зрозуміли.
Кажуть, це про силу, а не про задоволення.
Але я досі думаю — як він працює без усього чоловіка? 😄
