🇬🇧 Sinhagad Fort — My Experience

Just outside Pune, high in the Sahyadri hills, stands Sinhagad Fort — a place where history, sunrise, and personal challenge meet.
I visited it early in the morning, chasing the sunrise. We drove most of the way up by car, but the final stretch still demanded effort. The climb was short but steep, and the thin air and morning chill made it feel even tougher.
We reached the top just in time — the sky turned gold, clouds rolled under our feet, and the view took our breath away.
Locals were already there, quietly sipping tea and eating warm bhakri with chutney, as if this mountaintop was just another kitchen table.
There are also hiking trails for those who prefer to walk all the way — and they’re not easy. The real surprise, though, was the descent. Tired legs, loose stones, and sun climbing higher — going down was even harder than up.
But the entire experience? Magical. It wasn’t just a morning — it was a journey through time, silence, and sky.

🇺🇦 Форт Сінгхад — мій досвід
Неподалік Пуна, високо в горах Сах’ядрі, стоїть форт Сінгхад — місце, де зустрічаються історія, світанок і особиста витривалість.
Я приїхала туди рано-вранці, щоб побачити схід сонця. Майже до самої вершини ми піднялися на машині, але останній відрізок шляху змусив добряче попотіти. Підйом був короткий, але крутий, а прохолодне повітря і ранкова волога лише ускладнювали кожен крок.
На вершині ми встигли вчасно — небо засяяло золотом, а хмари були прямо під ногами.
Місцеві вже сиділи з чашками чаю, доїдали теплу бхакрі з чатні — ніби ця гора була просто ще однією кухнею.
Для справжніх любителів гір тут є пішохідні стежки — складні, кам’янисті, але мальовничі.
І, як не дивно, спуск виявився важчим за підйом: втомлені ноги, сипкий ґрунт і пекуче сонце.
Але загалом — це було щось особливе. Це був не просто ранок, а маленька подорож у небо, тишу і себе.

🇬🇧 History (But Not Too Much)
Sinhagad Fort isn't just a scenic spot — it's a place with weight.
It played a key role in Maratha history, especially in the legendary battle of 1670 when Tanaji Malusare, a warrior under Shivaji Maharaj, climbed the cliffs and reclaimed the fort from the Mughals. He died in that battle, and Shivaji said: "The fort is won, but the lion is gone."
There’s a flag point at the far end of the plateau, where the national flag flies proudly.
But honestly? I didn’t walk there. It's quite far, and I didn’t see the point — literally or figuratively.
My body (and my 100 kilos) had already climbed enough to earn that sunrise.
So yes, it’s full of history — but even if you skip the ruins and just breathe the air, you're still touching the past.

🇺🇦 Трохи історії (але без фанатизму)
Форт Сінгхад — це не просто гарне місце з краєвидом. Це частина історії.
Саме тут у 1670 році відбулася знаменита битва, коли воїн Танджі Малусаре, соратник Шиваджі, піднявся скелями вночі і повернув форт у маратійців. Він загинув, і Шиваджі сказав: «Форт здобуто, але лев загинув».
На дальньому краю плато є точка з прапором — місце, де встановлений індійський триколор.
Чесно? Я туди не пішла. Це далеченько, і сенсу не побачила — ані фізичного, ані морального.
Моє тіло (і мої 100 кг) вже зробили достатньо, щоб побачити той світанок.
Так що так — історія там відчувається. Але навіть якщо не лазити по залишках стін, а просто вдихнути те повітря — ти вже частина чогось старого і справжнього.
