Hidden in the green embrace of nature, The Valley School is not just an institution, but a living ecosystem of learning. Inspired by Jiddu Krishnamurti’s philosophy, the school blends classrooms with open fields, banyan trees, and forest trails.
In the past, wild animals roamed freely here. Even today, on the tall trees you can still see iron devices — metal plates that could be struck with a stick to make a loud sound and scare them away.
Children walk through the forest to get from one classroom to another. Sometimes it’s just a short path, but often they need to climb uphill or cross long trails to reach the next cottage. This everyday journey becomes part of their education — it strengthens their bodies, teaches resilience, and connects them with the land.

Students learn in mixed-age groups, so the same program may be repeated for two years, with new children joining the circle. This unique rhythm creates a flow of discovery, reflection, and deeper understanding.
Here, there are no heavy exams or competition. The goal is self-discovery, curiosity, and freedom of thought. Teachers are companions, not controllers.
Tuition fee: about $3,900 per year.
Location: 20 km from Bangalore, surrounded by forest and lakes.
